Founder

Karla Leavelle is a Founder of Human Capital Advisors. No longer a partner, she supports projects in organizational effectiveness.

She has over 30 years’ experience as a Human Resources executive and consultant in a variety of industries, including consulting, financial services, education, telecommunications, electronic commerce, and software development. She has led our firm’s organizational effectiveness and human resource support activities.

Karla recently returned to the firm after several year stints with an HCA client, a rapidly growing entrepreneurial company in Florida. She served as their Chief Operating Officer. She supports HCA projects in organization development with an emphasis on assessments and culture.

Prior to forming Human Capital Advisors, Ms. Leavelle was Vice President of Human Resources for worldweb.net, a software development company. She played an integral role in a smooth transition when the company was acquired. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Human Resources for Network Solutions, the registry, and registrar of Web site addresses.

During her tenure, she was a key member of the executive team that grew the company from 150 to more than 1500 employees and then executed the biggest Internet company acquisition ever – the purchase of Network Solutions by Verisign.

Ms. Leavelle has also held HR executive management positions at Bell Atlantic Video Services, the first company to bring video-on-demand into the home, Southland Corporation, the world’s largest convenience store operations, and Manchester Partners, an HR consulting services firm to Fortune 500 companies in the areas of career transition, change management, team building, and leadership development.

Ms. Leavelle served as Co-Chair of the Workforce Committee of the Northern Virginia Technology Council and is a charter member of its HR Advisory Board. She has been a board member of Northern Virginia Regional Partnership and a member of the advisory board for the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia.

Additionally, she served as an adjunct professor at George Mason University. She holds an MBA from DePaul University and a BA from the University of Texas at Dallas.
